Ryoko specializes in cooking that involves fermentation. One of her signature beverages is a form of sake, but she simply refers to it as a fermented rice beverage. Thanks to her knowledge on the fermentation process, Soma was able to learn how to properly speed up his cooking without sacrificing on the flavor. After a night of drinking some of her rice beverage, Soma and Ryoko start getting much closer and she begins to realize she has some feelings for him. Wanting to thank her for what she taught him, Soma offered to make her any meal she wanted. Thanks to the rice, Ryoko was able to sum up the courage to ask him to practice a special kind of fermentation process. One that involved his body rather than his tools.
